If you recall from my last note, Candi is loosely inspired by yours truly. Much like Candi, the Sujeiry you know and love today (and for those who don’t know me or love me, stay tuned - because you will!) is a fiery, ambitious, and confident woman who was also riddled with self-doubt, insecurities, and fears of rejection and abandonment. Underneath my tough, New York City girl exterior and bravado, I was once a Pick-Me Girl.
As in, “Please love me, choose me, be with me!!!!!!!!!!!”
This is where we find Candi in Heights of Love: Candi, the debut novel of the “Heights of Love” series. She keeps looking for love in all the wrong places, including her workplace. An administrative assistant at a Queens real estate firm by day and an aspiring singer by night, Candi finds herself pining away for her chiseled, successful, and charming co-worker, Jay. And, just like yours truly (or at least my former self), Candi does whatever it takes for the object of her affection to choose her.
